Satin Glass

Acid etching, also known as the satina process, is the removal of silicate particles from the glass surface through acid treatment. This creates microscopic pits on the surface, and due to light scattering in different directions, the glass appears white to the human eye. Compared to sandblasted glass, its biggest advantages are that it does not retain fingerprints and is much easier to clean. It also provides a significantly smoother surface than sandblasted glass.

Various types of glass can be used in the satina process, including clear float glass, tinted glass, mirrors, extra-clear glass, and reflective glass. Satina glass can be tempered, bent, and processed using all standard glass fabrication techniques.
